Are you looking for a place to take the kids on the weekend? Then check out our list of Perth’s best parks and playgrounds in the new land estates. The simple slide has been replaced by an adventure playground where your family can spend hours with other friends. We’re focusing just on the northern suburbs of Perth on this page, but you can check out parks just in the south or in Baldivis.
Kinkuna Park in Eglinton
Location: Revolution Avenue, Eglinton (Allara Estate)
Why we love it: There is a water play area! Yep, during the warmer months the kids can run underneath the water sprays to keep cool. There is a free music streaming service from the BBQs and glow-in-the-dark equipment. You’ve also got basketball courts, built-in trampolines, exercise equipment and even automatic toilets in the 8,000sqm park.
Amenities: BBQs and toilets.
Best for: All ages. The littlies will love the water play area and the playground, while the older kids can play on the basketball courts or kick the ball on the huge grass area.
Lighthouse Park in Eglinton
Location: Idyllic View, Eglinton (Amberton Beach Estate)
Why we love it: Overlooking the beach, this $5 million park continues the nautical theme with plenty of features! There are sand pulleys, sieves, buckets, chutes and other interactive items that encourage kids to be little pirates. Plus, there are animal graphics throughout the playground designed for young kids. And of course, how can we go past the huge 8.5m lighthouse!
Amenities: BBQs and toilets.
Best for: Toddlers and kids. There is equipment that caters for the littlies and heaps of toys that encourage interaction with other children. Plus they can pretend to be a pirate!
Pitstop Playground in Banksia Grove
Location: Grandis Boulevard, Banksia Grove (Banksia Grove Estate)
Why we love it: It’s pretty obvious, right? This playground is dedicated to racing! There are twists and turns, stop signs, and even a place where you can write your name on the leader board. Plus, the playground is located in the Discovery Park so there’s plenty of places for a picnic overlooking the lake.
Amenities: BBQs but no toilets.
Best for: Kids, especially those who have a bike or scooter. Unfortunately there isn’t much equipment for toddlers but give it a few years and they’ll be ready!
Jungle Park in Brabham
Location: Everglades Avenue, Brabham (Whiteman Edge Estate)
Why we love it: This jungle theme park has so much to do! There’s plenty of equipment for kids to climb, jump and run across like rope nets, poles and bridges. And it wouldn’t be a jungle with a next, which is why there is a huge tower with a massive 7 metre tunnel slide.
Amenities: BBQs and toilets.
Best for: Kids, in particular aged over 5 years.
Rainbow Waters Playground in Ellenbrook
Location: Library Avenue, Ellenbrook (Ellenbrook Estate)
Why we love it: This water playground is an absolute hit when it’s open from September to May! You’ll find fountains, bubble jets and water guns and it’s absolutely free. Plus, there’s BBQs, shaded areas and plenty of space for a picnic.
Amenities: BBQs and toilets.
Best for: All ages.
