There’s a reason why you’ll find tiles in every home. Whether it’s for your kitchen splashback or bathroom wall, this hard wearing material is incredibly strong and looks amazing.
But right now, we’re focusing on floor tiles. Yep, the part of your home that gets walked all over!
Smaller tiles (300x300mm) are the best option in wet areas such as bathrooms and laundries. This is because it is easier to create a slope for water drainage and less tiles need to be cut. In contrast, larger tiles (450x450mm or 600x600mm) are more suitable to living areas where there is a bigger space to cover.
Most people choose a grout colour that complements their tile’s tone. But sometimes a bold tile needs a contrasting grout to stand out, such as a white subway tile with black grout. Move Homes has partnered with Crosby Tiles who match every tile selection with a grout colour that works best.
More labour is required for a larger tile. Not only are they heavier to lay, but they need to be cut to fit with the room dimensions.
Tiles are hard wearing and when laid by a professional, will not come loose. They come in a variety of shapes and colours that can be used along walls (think of a bathroom with the floor tiles laid on the wall).
You can choose to have your tiles come in a rectified finish. This means that the tiles are laid so close to each other, that you can hardly see the grout.
