Robot Park in Piara Waters
Location: Doryanthes Avenue, Piara Waters (Newhaven Estate)
Why we love it: This $2.5 million park has so much to do! There’s a flying fox, climbing structures, tunnel slides, hamster wheel, basketball court… you name it! Plus, parents will enjoy the shaded seating, picnic area! And of course, there is the iconic robot themed cubby house.
Amenities: BBQs and toilets.
Best for: All ages. There are plenty of things to do for all ages, so kids will be entertained.
Shipwreck Park in Hilbert
Location: Weatherly Way, Hilbert (Sienna Wood Estate)
Why we love it: This park has everything! Covering 6.6 hectares, the focal point is a 30 metre shipwreck structure with plenty of nautical themed equipment and a water play area. It’s got ramps leading to the upper deck and a flying fox that caters for all abilities. There’s a sports court and fitness zone, as well as an enclosed dog park.
Amenities: BBQs and toilets.
Best for: All ages and abilities. The fitness zone includes a full basketball court and ping pong tables, so older kids will enjoy.
Hawkeswood Boulevard Park in Kwinana
Location: Hawkeswood Boulevard, Kwinana (Cassia Estate)
Why we love it: There’s more to this community park that you expect. Sure, you’ve got the lush green areas and shady spots that are perfect for a picnic. But there’s a half basketball court, multi-sport areas and even a ping pong table!
Amenities: BBQs but no toilets.
Best for: Older kids. The basketball court and ping pong table are probably out of reach for a toddler!
Shipwreck Cove in Golden Bay
Location: Solstice Grove, Golden Bay (Golden Bay Estate)
Why we love it: So there are a lot of parks and playgrounds in Golden Bay that we like, but Shipwreck Cove is our pick. As it’s located next to the beach, there’s a strong nautical theme which includes wooden pirate ships, rope swings, sand diggers… even a wobbly hammock. The littlies can enjoy their own space in the separately fenced area with interactive equipment suited for their needs. The older kids will love the bike and scooter circuit, with the BMX pump track next door.
Amenities: BBQs and toilets.
Best for: All ages, thanks to the separate toddler area and BMX track for older kids.
Adventurescape in South Yunderup
Location: Inlet Boulevard, South Yunderup (Austin Lakes Estate)
Why we love it: There’s a reason this playground got the top honours for design excellence at the Australian Institute of Landscape Architects Awards. This $3.5 million playground has a farm theme that spreads over the 4 hectare space. The giant pig is iconic, but there’s also a 35m flying fox, old farm tractors, a fence maze and more. Plus, there’s an 8.5m high windmill climbing frame that has a slide and climb-on animal sculptures. Parents will enjoy the picnic shelters and pavilion that overlooks the lake.
Amenities: BBQs and toilets.
